VOLUNTEERING FOR LISMORE MOW
Lismore MOW Volunteers are the backbone of the Service and without them the Service would not operate. Volunteers contribute by either:
Lismore MOW is managed by a voluntary Management Committee which meets third Wednesday by-month at 9.00am at the Goonellabah Community Centre. If you are interested in participating on the Management Committee, please contact Paula Whitehead, Operations Manager on (02) 6624 8215. Delivering Meals Volunteers who deliver meals work to a 4 week rotating roster agreed to by the Volunteer. Volunteers use their own vehicles to deliver meals and are given a reimbursement for petrol costs. THE BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING Lismore MOW believes that the use of Volunteers facilitates: ~ not only a nourishing meal but also provides warmth and social interaction with clients each day; ~ an opportunity for clients to have a greater connection to the community through their contact with Volunteers; ~ greater community participation in the Lismore LGA; ~ the ability to provide a more comprehensive range of services; ~ The opportunity for people to develop new skills. GETTING STARTED When commencing as a Volunteer with Lismore MOW, an induction process is implemented which involves the following: Personal Details ~ Personal Information completed and on file ~ Referee Check Forms ~ Volunteer Induction Manual/Client Handbook ~ Copy of Driver’s Licence ~ Confidentiality Agreement (accepted and signed) ~ Code of Conduct (accepted and signed) ~ Workplace Health and Safety (accepted and signed) ~ Declaration of Conflict of Interest ~ Police check (authority forms completed and signed) Workplace Health and Safety ~ Instruction in safe work practices ~ Duty of care ~ Fire safety and emergency procedures ~ First Aid Meal Delivery Training ~ You will be buddied with a staff member or an experienced volunteer who will go on a delivery run with you. ~ All paper work within the Run Books will be explained to you; ~ Fee collection training. |
